On Saturday, February 28 from 9:00 to 4:00, Rev. Teri Smith-Jones, LC, and Deacon Kathleen Smith-Jones will lead our partnership community in a Lenten retreat at St. Joseph. This retreat will offer an opportunity to enter more deeply into a Holy Lent through contemplation and prayer. As part of this retreat, we will have the opportunity to make prayer beads and prayer journals. We will explore the use of prayer beads and journaling as ways to deepen our prayer lives, and we will be invited to write or chose our own prayers to use when praying with our beads. We will also explore ways to use the Book of Common Prayer for personal devotions, and to incorporate other prayer practices, such as contemplative prayer, praying the hours, and Lectio Divina into our prayer lives. As part of our retreat, Deacon Kathleen will lead us in morning, noonday, and evening prayer, and a simple lunch of soup and bread will be served. There is no cost to participate in this retreat or for the supplies provided, but because these supplies must be purchased and attendance must be limited based on the supplies available, we ask that you contact one of the church offices or Rev. Doug as soon as possible to sign up for this retreat.
